Terms of Service

1. Who these terms are for

Alteyr is used by two kinds of people: the organisations who create and run interviews ("teams"), and the people who take part in them ("candidates"). These terms apply to both, except where a clause is addressed to one of them.

If you are using Alteyr on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

2. The service

Alteyr provides a hosted interview environment: a working repository, an in-browser editor, developer tooling, and an AI agent a candidate can pair with during a timed session. Teams configure the problem, invite candidates, and review what happened in the session afterwards.

The AI agent is an assistant, not an examiner. It does not decide whether a candidate passes; hiring decisions are always made by the team, not by Alteyr.

3. Accounts and access

Teams are responsible for keeping their account credentials secure and for the activity of the members they invite. Candidates receive time-limited access to a single interview session and may not share, resell, or attempt to extend that access.

We may suspend access we reasonably believe is being used to disrupt the platform, circumvent a session, or harm other users.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to attempt to break out of the interview sandbox, access another user’s session or data, reverse engineer the platform, or use Alteyr to run anything other than a genuine interview.

Candidates agree that the code and problems presented in a session are confidential to the team running it and may not be copied, published, or reused outside the interview.

5. Ownership of interview content

The problem definitions, starter repositories, and evaluation materials a team brings to or configures on Alteyr remain that team’s property. Alteyr’s own software, design, and platform remain ours.

Code a candidate writes during a session is made available to the team that ran the interview so it can be reviewed. Candidates retain authorship of their work but grant the team the right to review and store it for the purpose of the hiring process.

6. The AI agent

The AI agent generates suggestions that may be incomplete or incorrect. It is offered as-is to mirror how engineers work today, and neither teams nor candidates should rely on it as a source of truth.

Session activity, including interactions with the agent, may be recorded and shown to the team as part of the interview record.

7. Availability

We work to keep Alteyr available and performant, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may carry out maintenance, and we will make reasonable efforts to schedule it away from active interviews where we can.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Alteyr is provided without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not responsible for hiring decisions made using the platform, and our liability for any claim arising from your use of Alteyr is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the three months before the claim.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, for teams, give notice through the account. Continuing to use Alteyr after a change means you accept the updated terms.
